Valentine’s Day Cookies
Valentine’s Day is right around the corner and I dug up my most favorite sugar cookie and frosting recipe! My kids LOVE baking and cooking with me so I thought it would be fun to decorate cookies together and deliver to our friends and family during Valentine’s Day week.
I found a few adorable heart shaped cookie cutters for less than $1 at JoAnn Fabrics – score!
Note: This recipe makes a ton of cookies depending on the size of your cookie cutters.
Sugar Cookie Recipe:
2 cups butter
2 cups sugar
2 teaspoon vanilla
2 teaspoon almond extract
6 teaspoon baking powder
7 cups flour
Mix wet ingredients with sugar. Mix baking powder and flour then add to the wet ingredients slowly. Mix well. Refrigerate dough for 30 minutes.
Roll out the dough to your preferred thickness and cut out your hearts.
Bake for 7 minutes at 375.
Cream Cheese Frosting Recipe:
3/4 pound unsalted butter at room temperature
1 pound cream cheese at room temperature
1 teaspoon vanilla
1/2 teaspoon almond extract
1 1/2 pounds powdered sugar
Mix first 4 ingredients together. Add powdered sugar slowly until completely combined.
To make the frosting different shades, split the frosting up into four separate bowls.
Add one drop of food coloring to the first bowl. Add two drops to the next bowl and so on.
Frost and enjoy!
