Small Town Charm, Big Time Fun! A Day In Hartford (Part 2 – Kid Free Adventures)
Nestled in the heart of the Kettle Moraine, Hartford is a bustling Southeastern Wisconsin community with a whole lot of small town charm! We were recently invited to spend a few days exploring Hartford. Here are some of the kid-free highlights of our adventure!

We started our day off with breakfast at Perc Place. Popular with locals, Perc Place offers a variety of delicious coffee drinks and breakfast/lunch dishes utilizing fresh and local products. We love the relaxed atmosphere and eclectic mix of rustic decor!

Main Street Shopping
After breakfast we spent the next few hours browsing the Main Street shops, featuring antiques, gifts, and handmade goods. Some of our favorites include:
Local Collective is unique shop filled with handcrafted and locally made items. Over 60 makers/creatives contribute to this collection and you’ll never know what you’re going to find!
Furnish Traders is a community-focused store where you can shop for and consign quality furnishings, art and antiques. Stop in periodically to check out their new arrivals!
Kate’s Kloset is a women’s boutique. Find fun and colorful women’s clothing and accessories and stop and chat with the lovely owner Kate! She’s happy to help with any styling needs.

Basal Layer – Facials

We were both excited to book our first ever facials at Basal Layer! Owner Tina provides a relaxing, holistic approach to wellness. With a variety of skincare services and products for purchase, Basal Layer is a great getaway for busy moms who desperately need “me-time”.
Busy Kids Tip: Appointments are easy to schedule online. They offer 30 minute power lunch sessions and private parties, too!
Wisconsin Automotive Museum

Next we met up with our husbands for a couples date. The Wisconsin Automotive Museum is the area’s largest auto museum, featuring an ever-changing display of classic and vintage autos and artifacts. Our husbands enjoyed learning about the history of Kissel Automotive, manufactured right in Hartford from 1906 – 1931!

At the end of the day we made our way out for some Mexican food at Casa Tequila. We love their beautiful patio and refreshing margaritas! Located near Highway 60, Casa Tequila is a convenient restaurant on your way in or out of Hartford.

Schauer Art Center

Filled with culture and history, the Schauer Arts Center was transformed from a canning factory built in 1919 into a non-profit, regional center for the arts that inspires creativity and connects people. Since opening in 2001, the Schauer Arts Center presents professional touring performances in the Ruth A. Knoll Theater and regional artwork in the Suckow Family Art Gallery, and also serves as a home to the Hartford City Band, Hartford Community Chorus, The Hartford Players, and the Kettle Moraine Fine Arts Guild.
Washington County Golf Course

Less than an hour’s drive northwest of downtown Milwaukee, secluded in the heart of Wisconsin’s picturesque Kettle Moraine Area, lies Washington County Golf Course. We loved exploring the city of Hartford on our Moms Day Out! We had a fun-filled day of shopping, great food, relaxing facials and other fun adventures! We can’t wait to come back soon!
