Intro To Geocaching: A New Outdoor Hobby Your Kids Will Love!
Are you looking for a new summer hobby? Join the world’s largest treasure hunt!
We love finding new things to do outside, and we think you’ll love this modern twist on a classic game. Geocaching is a high tech treasure hunt – and a fun way to get out with your kids and explore new places!
What Is A Cache?
Caches are small, weatherproof boxes hidden all over the world by fellow geocachers.
They may contain small trinkets, a logbook and pen or pencil, and perhaps a disposable camera. They are hidden under rocks, trees, and other spaces for you to find!
How Do You Play?
Geocaching is played using a GPS-enabled device (cell phone) to navigate you towards a set of GPS coordinates (latitude and longitude). Once you are close to the coordinates, you’ll have to use your wits to uncover the “treasure” – a cache!
What Is The Recommended Age Range?
Since geocaching is all about the thrill of the hunt, anyone can play! Younger kids will need some assistance, but older kids and adults will enjoy the game as well. Either way, it’s a great way to get out and explore together!
Did You Know?
West Bend is the “Geocaching Capital of the Midwest”, boasting over 1600 caches in a 10 mile radius! We are also home to the $1000 Cache Bash, a fun yearly event for people of all ages!
The next Cache Ba$h will be held on Friday, August 10 and Saturday, August 11, 2018. It’s a social event for geocachers of all ages! Find out more here >>
