The Story Of Us – Date Night In Box Review
My husband and I recently got to try out a Date Night In Box and it was a lot of fun! Our kids are (almost) 2 and 3.5, so getting out of the house for a date night is hard to coordinate these days. We love the idea of pre-planned dates that can be done from the comfort of our own home.
Are you intrigued yet? Find out more about our date below!
We started the night off with a bottle of my FAVE wine, 19 Crimes Banished. If you’re not familiar with the 19 Crimes wines, do yourself a favor: buy a bottle and then download the app! You’ll enjoy great wine + a fun interactive phone app!
(Thanks to Busy Kids follower Emily for introducing us to this wine!)
It was daylight savings, so the hubs and I were pretty exhausted and the kids were fighting bedtime. (C’mon, kids!) It was a lot of fun looking forward to the Night In Box for some well deserved “us” time once they (finally) fell asleep.
The theme of this month’s box was “Story of Us” and everything was centered around our story as a couple – how we met, how we’ve grown together, etc. There were some great suggestions for setting the mood at home, along with a free Spotify playlist and dinner menu suggestions.
The first activity was an old-fashioned photo hunt! It’s honestly been years since I’ve used a single use camera and I had to remind myself how to use it (wind it up!).
We had a good time taking goofy photos around the house, all centered around our memories together.
The photo album pictured above was for our photo scavenger hunt: “Grab a memento that reminds you of a trip or event that you’ve enjoyed together.” Kevin and I had a destination wedding in Punta Cana and it was really sweet to pull out this photo album and reminisce together.
Side note – do you guys remember how hard it is to take a selfie with one of these things?? I’m not sure if any of the photos will even turn out! Hah.
After the photo hunt, we made a quick snack – Oreo cookie pops! Normally we’d never take the time to do something special like this, so it was fun in that way.
The next activity in the date was creating a little book of memories called “The Story Of Us”. We had a chance to connect and remember all of the things we’ve done over the past 11 years together.
Here’s another page in the book – Love By The Map. Can you believe Kevin and I have moved to 4 different states since we were married? It’s been a crazy couple of years, but we are really happy to be back in the area planting our roots!
All in all, the date took us about an hour. Plenty of laughs were shared, but the very best part was that I did not have to do any planning at all.
If you’re like me, life feels crazy all of the time. It’s hard to think beyond tomorrow, let alone plan unique and meaningful dates to connect with my spouse.
We believe date night is so, so important, especially during this season of life. Night In Boxes make it easy to connect with your spouse from the comfort of your own home (and in your slippers!).
Until Next Time!
