Washington County Area Museums

Wisconsin is home to a wide array of museums with many right in our backyard.

Hours and admission fees were gathered in October 2016 and are subject to change. Please call ahead to confirm details.


Museum of Wisconsin Art

The Museum of Wisconsin Art (MOWA) explores the art and culture of Wisconsin. Founded in 1961, MOWA is one of the top museums of regional art in the United States, with almost 5,000 works of contemporary and historic art by more than 350 artists. Through rotating exhibitions and educational programs, MOWA provides an innovative forum for the culturally engaged. They also have wonderful children’s programs! Pay a one-time member fee and visit as much as you want, for one full year.

Americanism Center Museum

The Americanism Center Museum in Waubeka, the birthplace of Flag Day, is an ideal place to visit for anyone interested in history and the American Flag. Features include: the Hall of Flags, galleries dedicated to the military and local history. Be sure to visit Stony Hill Schoolhouse also!

1860 Lighthouse and Light Station Museum

Visitors can tour the restored quarters that depict the life of a lightkeeper and his family in the 19th century and enjoy spectacular views of Lake Michigan and surrounding area from the light tower. The former watch shack/backup generator building has additional museum exhibits that feature maritime and local memorabilia and historic artifacts.

Wisconsin Automotive Museum

History comes alive at the Wisconsin Automotive Museum. Showcasing transportation history, the museum is Wisconsin’s largest auto museum, featuring an ever-changing display of classic and vintage autos and artifacts plus the largest assembled group of Hartford-built Kissel luxury automobiles.

Bast Bell Museum

You will marvel at the 5000+ bell collection from Sila Lydia Bast who was born and raised in Germantown, WI 1900-1992. Bells collected from all over the world are displayed in a restored barn that dates back to 1870. View a vintage Seagrave in our Fire Hall 1880/1910. The museum is nestled in the heart of 9 acre Dheinsville Historic Park, where you can see the 1,063 pound bell atop of the original silo-made-bell-tower. Keep strolling through Dheinsville to experience a unique ethnic history & its exhibits.

Old Falls Village Museum

Nestled on the grounds of a beautiful 17-acre park, Old Falls Village invites you to step back in time and glimpse life as it was from the mid 1800s to the early 1900s.  Featuring a variety of historic homes and buildings, this living history museum includes a log home, school house, barn, railroad depot, log cabin, and dairy.  The centerpiece of Old Falls Village is the 1858 Miller-Davidson House, listed on the National Register of Historic Places.   Each of the buildings also feature antiques and artifacts from the time.
